About Us

From Indonesia to Cologne, shared with heart.

Meramanis started with five Indonesians living in Germany and one simple goal: to share Indonesian coffee with Europe. For us, every bean has its own story, from the people who grow it to the way it’s roasted and enjoyed. We like letting people discover that story in every cup.

We work closely with farmers across Indonesia, from the highlands of Sumatra to the villages of Flores and the quiet corners of Java and Bali. They grow with care and purpose, and we try to bring that same attention to every roast here in our Haan roastery. We take the time to understand each coffee and what makes it unique, and by roasting it light, we bring out its natural sweetness and character so it tastes like where it comes from, not following trends.

Meramanis isn’t just about coffee. It’s about community, the baristas, brewers, and everyone who shares a cup, and making a space where people feel at home.

Why "Meramanis"?

The name came from our early roasting days, when we’d enjoy coffee in wine glasses during summer. The light roast had a beautiful reddish-brown color and a naturally sweet taste, never bitter. That’s when the name Meramanis felt right, because in Indonesian, mera (from merah) means red, and manis means to sweeten.

For us, it’s a simple idea: even strong things can have warmth, and a good cup of coffee should always leave a little sweetness behind.
