Coffee by origin

Flores, Indonesia

Flores is a volcanic island of lush landscapes, rich culture, and vibrant coffee—taste its character in every cup

Why Flores?

Flores lies around 320 kilometers east of Bali and is shaped by a long chain of active and dormant volcanoes. The island feels remote and elevated, with rugged terrain that naturally creates a very specific environment for coffee cultivation.

Coffee arrived here later than in many other parts of Indonesia, but the growing conditions quickly proved to be exceptional. Volcanic soils rich in minerals, high altitudes, and cool mountain air all work together to slow down the ripening of the coffee cherries.

This slower maturation is one of the defining characteristics of Flores coffee.

It allows the coffee to develop a clear structure and gentle layered sweetness, with a soft tropical character that feels closely tied to the landscape itself.

The result is a cup that doesn’t try to be something else — it simply reflects where it comes from, in a calm and honest way.

Flores

about our producer

On Flores, coffee is grown by smallholder farmers across the highlands, mostly on small family plots passed down through generations. Farming here is still very hands-on, shaped by daily work in the fields and the natural rhythm of the seasons.

During harvest, coffee is picked by hand, with farmers selectively choosing only the ripe cherries as they mature. Because the terrain and climate vary from one area to another, harvesting often happens in multiple passes rather than all at once.

After picking, the coffee is processed locally in collaboration with partners like Tuang Coffee in Manggarai. The focus is on keeping the process close to origin, while slowly improving consistency and quality over time through shared work and experience.
